At least scorpions could be stunned at certain HP levels, so that balanced them out, and they had a cooler, more creative design, so I still prefer them. I guess you could technically replace arachnoids and snipers with each other and not much would change, except snipers have less health and a lower damage potential than a scorpion with 2 chainguns. It's like the previously mentioned arachnoids on top of buildings, except you're always waiting behind a wall. You arrive at the entrance to some large area, then 1 or 5 or 15 lasers start pointing at you, so you just stand there for 2 minutes while peeking out of your cover and slowly getting rid of those pesky fucks. The snipers are pretty much always pointless. Their placement in SS4 was often just uninspired (like many other things in the game), so they sucked. The main problem was that they were often placed in open spaces, and sometimes multiple arachnoids were placed on top of pillars or other structures while you were standing in the middle of an arena, which was bullshit. Why did you specifically write TSE if they were also in TFE?Īlso, yeah, the arachnoids have never been that good compared to other enemies, but they were sometimes used in good situations, like when they were blocking off an escape route from a fight, or when you had to choose between shooting them or running into cover to shoot other enemies instead.
